Happy International Women’s Day to all of our amazing members 🌸 WOWSA celebrated in style for our second annual International Women’s Day event that featured great networking and commemorated the strength, resilience, and accomplishments of Women in Business.

Pictured to the left are our fabulous speakers and committee members. The evening included an authentic keynote with Alicia Gibbons of The Space Between with Alicia, a special performance of the original song “Because I’m A Woman” by Lisa McEwen, and a wonderful panel discussion with successful local business women Ruth Linnen (Certified Professional Counselling Centre), Maneesha Sharma (Ms Beauty), Heather Stark (Willow Home), Nancy Dalgard (The Tees Tap House and The Post & Beam), and Melanie Needham (Personal Empowerment Studio). We also got to learn about Camp Molly coming to Hanover in October, a camp for self identified female and non-binary youth aged 15 to 18 to get an inside look at a career in fire and emergency services, with Firefighter Christina Schnell of Hanover Fire Services.

A spectacular evening and unforgettable celebration!

Advancing Women Economically (AWE) Loan

The Saugeen Connects/SEDC Advancing Women Economically (AWE) loan product was developed to assist women entrepreneurs that face the following barriers: are older, that are clients of social services, are disabled or indigenous. This loan product was designed to address the needs of this targeted segment of women.

It is our hope that through this product we can provide women in the Saugeen Connects catchment area with help assessing and acquiring the skills required to build and sustain a successful business, develop more confidence and be provided with support to overcome a good portion of the barriers they face. Saugeen Connects strives to support women in business and the AWE Loan product can be used to achieve this.
